Natalie Portman

a little bit different from my past posts ,tonight what i wanna write just every little thing called love about Natalie Portman .

Star Wars : Episode I was the first movie that i saw Natalie Portman included in the movie. But at that time i didn’t pay attention to much because what i really want to see is the different technology between Star Wars IV – VI and Star Wars I -III that produced latest. So , now i’m gonna reviewing few movies which Natalie Portman involved (beside Brothers that i already reviewed about two weeks ago).

1. Thor (2011)

Directed By : Keneth Branagh

Cast : Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings

Runtime : 115 Minutes

Genre : Action , Adventure , Fantasy

You’ll Like If You Like : Iron Man , Hulk

Rate : 6/10

Whatever people or IMDB’s said , for me this movie was disappointing. Stuck with God’s world and it’s myth , Thor gave me a superhero love story that really sucks. The difference between Iron Man and Thor is Tony Stark was a splendid guy who turn more splendid when he had the iron stuff that he made himself , and for the love story , Tony have an ability , an inner charm which can make every woman fall in love. Thor , the son of God who can conduct lightning to a powerful harmony , turn to nobody when his hammer disappeared . Sadly , where he was a normal guy , he have nothing , can’t do anything but shitly , he get the angel who bump him when he falling from the sky ( i know this is not a review , but a jealousy turn me into the sea).

Whatever . But really , seriously Thor is not that superhero who have a good sidestory that spiderman , dark knight , or ironman had . If the movie just tell the story of Thor when he was still on the sky with his family and enemy , tell about the myth more detail & comprehensive , definitely i’ll give more credit.

2. V for Vendetta (2006)

Directed By : James McTeigue

Cast :  Hugo Weaving, Natalie Portman, Rupert Graves, Stephen Rea

Runtime : 132 Minutes

Genre : Action , Sci-Fi , Thriller

Rate : 7/10

Remember , remember , the 5th of November . Much words of V that stuck in my head after i watch this movie. The story tell us about the future Britain and how the society is. And there is this men , who have many ideas that can make resistance to its governance. Meet accidentally , V and Evey afterward know that they have same thoughts and passion about their homeland and V have a way , an idea which can make it better.

After watch this movie , i suddenly realize that Natalie Portman have an extraordinary touch to be superhero sidekick (Thor and Luke Skywalker Mom). She did a big sacrifice when take a part in this movie because in one scene , her hair was cut down- near bald. After this movie , her career slowly climb up , and she started take a part in “well-quality” & “much known” movie such as The Darjeeling Limited , New York , I love you , Brothers , and then Black Swan who deliver her an Oscar.

The only mystery about the movie is … why it doesn’t spell V Vor Vendetta ?
The only answer is because the director was not alay … :]

3. No Strings Attached (2011)

Directed By : Keneth Branagh

Cast :  Natalie Portman, Ashton Kutcher, Kevin Kline, Cary Elwes

Runtime : 108 Minutes

Genre : Drama , Comedy, Romance

You’ll Like If You Like : What Happen In Vegas , Friends With Benefits

Rate : 7/10

A guy and a girl , want to keep a strange relationship. The girl just want an ordinary relationship friend things plus one benefit , sex . No heart , no more . but the guy , want some more from this relationship. Natalie , as Emma in this movie , act as a straight super smart girl who has a job as a nurse after she graduated from MIT. Her straight attitude remind me with the character Summer from 500 Days of Summer which played by Zooey Deschannel. A character which makes all boy who watch the movie hate her because the arrogance , the straight , unexpression , and unsentiment feeling of Summer.

There is no extraordinary things in this movie. It such a mean movie , but it packaged well. Aston Kutcher and Natalie Portman is one of many reason why people attracted to watch this movie. But one thing was funny that the other movie , Friends With Benefits tell the same story with this movie (just the couple was different), whereas that two movies release date was not much different.

4. Black Swan (2010)

Directed By : Darren Aronofsky

Cast :  Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Vincent Cassel, Barbara Hershey, Winona Ryder

Runtime : 108 Minutes

Genre : Drama , Thriller , Mystery

You’ll Like If You Like : Shutter Island , American Phsyco

Rate : 8/10

And the finale , the most worthy movie to watch who Natalie included with , Black Swan. Nina is a ballet dancer at New York who got a competition to get role as White & Black Swan which played by one woman only. The only problem is , she is a perfect match as the white swan , but not for the black swan character. So she did what her instructor tell , to more excited , stimulated . But things become complex when Nina have an alternate side , the darker side who slowly control her mind , who makes she lose her mind slowly , and make her becomes more similar with the Black Swan character.

Darren Aronofsky, the director bring the dark side of Swan Lake ballet show to movie and give us a splendid movie to watch. The camera works very well , how the effect who make the reflection of Nina in the mirror move in it’s want alone, how the eye of one paint at Nina house move fast (my friend can’t see that) make this movie thrilling enough. Maybe some people said that this movie just about how Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman touch themselves , but for some more peole , this movie can make you blown away while you watching it.
